Description

This is a manually operated, cam driven, jaw type crusher which is operable with any ½ inch square drive bar;weight is 16 lbs - 7.26 kg.
The drive bar is not included.
The useful jaw opening is 3” - 7.62 cm wide x 1 ¾ “ - 4.45 cm. Transverse weld beads on the moving jaw and vertical beads on the stationary jaw provide for grip and focus points for the pressure. Jaw bottom gap adjustment is simple, the stationary jaw is vertical and is adjusted up or down after slightly slacking the pinch bolt
( 3/4 " - 19 mm wrench is provided)
at the top. The head of the pinch bolt has a stop against it, so only one wrench is needed. Similarly, the stationary jaw can be lifted straight up and out, providing easy access to both jaws for cleaning. There is a spot of weld each side at the top of the stationary jaw so that it doesn't fall through when the pinch bolt is slackened. Adjustment of the bottom gap (size of discharge) between the jaws is from ½” -12.7 mm down to 1/32” - .8 mm . The crusher ships fully assembled.
After the product is reduced to about 1/8" - 3.2 mm, the crusher may be driven (slowly) with a 1/2" - 12.7 mm square drive adapter (
not supplied
) in a drill, to speed up the final grind. The common coffee grinder is a good attrition mill for ultra fine grinding of the crusher's product.
If the crusher is mounted on the side of a bench, then the cam can be rotated through 360 degrees for continuous crushing action.
There is a transparent poly-carbonate cover which permits  viewing of the crushing process..The cover is secured to the tops of the side plates with neodymium magnets (very powerful) and can be hinged to either side, one magnet becoming the hinge. Poly-carbonate is 30 times more impact resistant than common acrylic.
The cam and camshaft bushings have oiling holes; STP engine oil treatment is recommended because it stays put and wont drip. Just one or two drops on the cam bushings and a few on the cam lobe very occasionally.
A supply of oil is included; an allen wrench is also included
for the oil hole plugs in the camshaft bushings.There is a removable cover over the cam to exclude debris. A removable cover under the cam will catch any inadvertent oil drip. The inside is not painted.
Do not expect to easily crush the very dense, very hard quartz unless it is approximately one and a half inches.
Unlike the manual crusher type with a lever directly operating the jaw, this crusher has a significantly reduced tendency to somersault when used without bolting down.
